You probably won’t need this very often, but it’s one of those tools that when you need it, you really need it, unless Paul Bunyan, hands on hips, makes a surprise reincarnation in your garden. Sorry. This 16.6-pound fence post pounder fits over the top of a fence post. The bottom is open and the top is closed. The handles make it pretty easy to hold while pounding the post into the ground.
The ubiquitous green metal fence posts are manufactured about 12 inches too long so you can pound them into the ground and have them stay non-wobbly. I would find this impossible to accomplish without the hefty fence post pounder. This tool is especially handy when placing long pieces of rebar in the ground to serve as poles for climbing plants or for supports for the wire I like to use as tomato tie-ups.
