I had big plans for this past weekend. My big plans looked a lot like digging, weeding, digging, turning, and did I mention some digging? But Mother Nature had her own plans which looked like this:
This weekend’s weather forecast looks a lot more promising, which is good because I’m planning on hitting the nursery on the way home from work on Friday. It’s time to get something other than weeds growing out there!
I’m pretty late to the fall vegetable garden game so I’m going to plant a few things now but really focus on getting ready for the winter garden. I’ll get a few tomato plants, maybe a pepper or two, some herbs, and a lot of good flowers. I think that seeing pretty things in the garden will provide me with the instant gratification I need now so that I can keep my eye on the bigger picture out there. Also I’ve read that flowers like marigolds and dahlias are especially good for repelling nematodes which will be a step in the right direction for the winter planting.
Keep your fingers crossed for me so that I can get one or two beds cleaned out. It’s a jungle out there!
